First away game

Mine was Southampton away in the 3rd round of the FA cup in 1975.
I was 9 yrs old. Mike Shannon scored a penalty for them, we won 2-1 if memory serves may have been 3-1.

I think away at Palace sometime in the 70s. Cant remember the score, but do remember thinking it strange to be in a minority. Until then, I suppose I thought that EVERYONE should like and support West Ham.

Newcastle away, 2005/06. Finished 0-0 with Konchesky given a straight red which was rescinded. I was 11 at the time.

Vs Brighton, Goldstone Ground - September '89. Went with my Dad, he told me to watch Phil Parkes (I was a budding goalkeeper). First thing Phil did was let a goal in at the near post.
When we left the ground, I remember seeing knuckle dusters on the floor. I didn't realise at the time but, according to 11vs11, we started without a recognised striker;

Norwich away.
Can't remember much about the match itself, but I do remember their fans being loudly racist about Clyde Best.
Second was Southampton. Again, the match hasn't stuck, but I drew the short straw on the bus and had to sit on half a seat next to an extremely fat bloke who stank. Only been to one match by coach since (v Everton at Elland Road).

Bugger - meant to say first away game outside London.
The order of my first London aways has vanished. I think the first was Tottenham away, then Arsenal (where I saw my first street fight) but I'm not sure

I think I was blessed with my first away
Chelsea 0-4 West Ham 85-86 season
It was tough though as I was in the shed with my Chelsea friend and had to keep quietish
Still it did get better as my friend was mortified and as it was Easter weekend he persuaded me to go and see QPR v Chelsea a couple of days latter, that was QPR 6-0 Chelsea!
Happy days or what?

Yes must have been amazing in those years and what players we had, not to mention the manager.
I once saw a photo of Ron traveling back from wembly with the FA cup on the underground! Amazing times, how things have changed.
